Miami Dolphins @ Minnesota Vikings
U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, MN
October 4, 2026 – 9:05 p.m. BST

The Vikings return home to U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday still unbeaten ahead of their game against the 0–3 Miami Dolphins. Both teams will be without their leading offensive weapons, though Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson (ankle) should miss much less time than Dolphins running back De’Von Achane, who tore his ACL last week.
Jordan Addison stepped up to fill the void left by Jefferson last week, and his touchdown contributed to a 23–16 Vikings win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He’ll need to do so again as another Florida opponent comes to town and the Vikings offense looks for the spark to ignite their sputtering opening quarter to the season.

What uniforms are the Vikings wearing against the Dolphins?
As the home team, the Vikings have first choice of uniforms for Sunday’s game. They haven’t designated this as a themed game, so expect them to wear their primary home uniforms of purple jerseys, white pants and purple socks. The Dolphins will therefore wear their primary road uniforms of white jerseys, teal pants and teal socks.
Ones to watch

With Justin Jefferson carrying an ankle injury, the primary receiver role fell to Jordan Addison against the Bucs. His 90 yards and a touchdown were a welcome stat line for a team missing their most potent offensive weapon.
If Jefferson again has a reduced workload against the Dolphins, it’ll be important for Addison to step up again and shoulder that offensive burden.
On defense, the front seven continued to wreak havoc against Tampa Bay, picking up another 12 QB hits and 6 sacks. Meanwhile, the secondary gave up a couple of big plays in the first half, including a 40-yard touchdown.
The only player to play 100% of the defensive snaps against the Bucs was safety Josh Metellus, who hits 100 appearances for the Vikings on Sunday. His experience will be vital to cutting out the mistakes that lead to opponents making those big gains.
Previous meetings

This will be the 14th regular-season meeting between the Vikings and the Dolphins, a series that Sunday’s visitors currently lead 7–6. The Vikings have won the last two encounters, in Miami in 2022 and in Minneapolis in 2018.
That last home encounter saw the Vikings run out 41–17 winners, with three touchdowns in the first quarter alone. Dalvin Cook rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns, but it was the defense that shone in this game. Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill was sacked nine times, with Anthony Barr and Danielle Hunter accounting for four of those between them.
Vikings team news

After he came out of last week’s game on the opening drive, scans revealed that Justin Jefferson had avoided serious injury to his ankle. Nevertheless, he was held out of practice ahead of the Miami game and ultimately ruled out, meaning he will miss a game for the first time since a hamstring injury knocked him out of seven games in 2023.
Also ruled out of Sunday’s game are cornerback Charles Demmings and punter Brett Thorson (both hamstring). A fifth-round draft pick this year (by our very own club founder John Macdonald!), Demmings has made most of his impact on special teams but took his first defensive snaps against Tampa Bay only to be pulled from the game in the second half.
Thorson missed the Tampa Bay game after picking up his hamstring injury in week 2; Johnny Hekker is expected to be promoted from the practice squad to fill in for him. RB Aaron Jones was rested on Wednesday, but was not listed as still being affected by the knee injury he suffered against the Bears.
Dolphins team news
The Dolphins received a major blow in last week’s loss to the Chiefs, as star running back De’Von Achane tore his ACL just five plays into Miami’s opening drive, ruling him out of the rest of the season. Third-year running back Jaylen Wright is expected to take over from Achane as the Dolphins’ lead rusher.
The other players listed as Out for Sunday’s game are EDGE Rob Beal Jr. (hamstring), WR Caleb Douglas (ankle) and CB Storm Duck (knee). Long snapper Tucker Addington (shoulder) was limited in practice all week, but neither he nor any of the other players listed on the injury report go into Sunday’s game with an injury designation.
