Minnesota Vikings @ New Orleans Saints
Caesars Superdome, New Orleans, LA
October 11, 2026 – 6:00 p.m. BST

It’s another road trip for the Vikings in week 5 as they travel to New Orleans to take on the 1–3 Saints. Mixed feelings remain about the state of the Vikings’ offense, but a 4–0 record and a fourth-quarter fillip against the Dolphins will give them more confidence ahead of their week 6 bye.
Justin Jefferson is expected to return to the line-up after two weeks out with an ankle injury, but with Jordan Addison nursing his own hamstring discomfort, there’s a possibility that Odell Beckham Jr. could make his Vikings debut against the Saints. There are injury concerns on the offensive line, but if the backups play like they did against Miami, Kyler Murray might have the opportunity to make a few plays.

What uniforms are the Vikings wearing against the Saints?
As the road team, the Vikings have second choice of uniforms for Sunday’s game. The Saints are expected to wear their primary home uniforms of black jerseys, black pants and black socks. The Vikings should therefore wear their primary road uniforms of white jerseys, purple pants and white socks.
Ones to watch

The Vikings offense continued to splutter in the first half against the Dolphins, but the second half saw Kyler Murray go 16/18 for 135 yards. His primary target – particularly in the fourth quarter – was tight end T. J. Hockenson, who accounted for 80 of those yards, 57 of them in the fourth quarter. It was his fourth 100-yard game as a Viking, although it came nearly two years after his last one.
Tight ends are often treated as safety valves for quarterbacks still settling into an offense, and it seemed like Murray was using Hockenson in that capacity last week. He had eight catches bring up first downs, the most of any game in his career. If the pair can put up similar numbers against the Saints (and if Justin Jefferson is back), they could see the offense finally kick into gear.
While the stat line was more modest for the Vikings defense against the Dolphins, only managing three QB hits and three tackles for loss, they managed to bottle up the Miami passing game. Malik Willis only attempted 17 passes and completed just over half of them for 85 yards.
Blake Cashman led the Vikings defense as usual with eight tackles and a QB hit, as well as recovering the fumble forced by Dallas Turner on one of his two sacks. It’s business as usual for the defensive side of the ball, so… just keep an eye on Will Reichard knocking over field goals, I guess!
Previous meetings

This is the first meeting between the Vikings and the Saints since 2023, and Minnesota’s first road game in the series since 2022, albeit that game was played in London, where the Vikings extended their unbeaten run to three games after Wil Lutz double-doinked a potential game-tying field goal off the uprights.
Their last clash in New Orleans took place on Christmas Day in 2020, when the Saints ran out 52–33 winners thanks to a league-record six(!) rushing touchdowns from Alvin Kamara.
You have to go back to 2008 to find the Vikings’ last victory at the Superdome, a topsy-turvy clash that saw the lead change three times, and Reggie Bush scored two punt return touchdowns for the home side. The Vikings ultimately completed a fourth-quarter comeback thanks to a 33-yard Bernard Berrian touchdown and a 30-yard field goal from Ryan Longwell.
Vikings team news

The Vikings lost guard Donovan Jackson to a knee injury on the second drive of last week’s win over the Dolphins. He was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday after scans revealed he’d torn his meniscus and would require season-ending surgery.
Meanwhile, Johnny Hekker was released from the practice squad, suggesting an imminent return to action for rookie punter Brett Thorson, who’s missed the last two games with a hamstring injury. Thorson was a full participant in practice and goes into the Saints game without an injury designation.
LT Christian Darrisaw (concussion) and CB Chuck Demmings (hamstring) were both ruled out, and there’s a bit of an injury crisis at wide receiver, with both Justin Jefferson (ankle) and Jordan Addison (hamstring) questionable. Jefferson said he was hoping to play on Sunday, but the uncertainty over the lead receivers led to Odell Beckham Jr being signed to the practice squad on Wednesday. If one or both are unable to play, Beckham will likely suit up for Sunday’s game.
RT Brian O’Neill (knee) is also questionable for Sunday; with Darrisaw and Jackson both unavailable, O’Neill’s absence would leave the offensive line looking a little threadbare. Ryan Van Demark is likely to step in for Darrisaw, which would mean rookie third-rounder Caleb Tiernan would come in for O’Neill on the right hand side.
Saints team news
The Saints have ruled three players out of Sunday’s game, most prominently starting linebacker Kaden Elliss, who also missed their week 4 loss to the Atlanta Falcons with a calf injury. Also ruled out are EDGE Anfernee Jennings (knee) and G Jeremiah Wright (concussion).
They also have six players listed as questionable, including RB Alvin Kamara (back), S Julian Blackmon (shoulder) and return specialist Barion Brown (thigh). Starting QB Tyler Shough was limited in practice on Wednesday but was a full participant the rest of the week and is expected to be good to go on Sunday.
